History

RN-Komsomolsky Refinery LLC is located in  Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk Territory, and has been part of the vertically integrated structure of Rosneft since its establishment. The construction of the plant began in 1938, and it was put into operation in 1942.

The project capacity of the refinery is 8 million tons of oil per year. The refinery processes crude oil produced by the Company on the Sakhalin Island and delivered to the enterprise via the Okha - Komsomolsk-on-Amur pipeline, as well as feedstock supplied via the East Siberia - Pacific Ocean trunk pipeline.

The product range of the Komsomolsk Refinery includes more than 20 items, including motor gasoline and diesel fuel of ecological class K5, marine fuels. The product line is constantly expanding. In 2018, the company organised the production of RMD-80 eco marine fuel, and in 2019, RMLS-40.

The Komsomolsky Refinery is one of the main suppliers of oil products to the Far East market. Deliveries are made through RN-Vostoknefteprodukt, which manages Rosneft's network of filling stations in the region.

LLC RN-Komsomolsky Oil Refinery is gradually implementing a large-scale program of modernization of production and reconstruction of existing process units.  The reconstruction of the catalytic reforming unit was completed, which included the introduction of a 1.5 million ton annual capacity pre-fractionation unit for reforming raw materials. The implementation of this project allowed us to switch over to production of motor gasoline corresponding to K5 environmental class. A liquefied gas storage and shipment base with a capacity of 2.4 thousand cubic meters was also commissioned.

In 2018, as part of the implementation of the digital plant program, the production control center was equipped with advanced digital equipment, which allowed to automate the control over the parameters of the main technological units of the enterprise: two units of primary oil refining, hydrotreating of distillates, sulfur production units. In 2019, the process control system of the primary refining unit - ELOU-AVT-3 - was upgraded, which ensured the inclusion of one of the most significant facilities in the digital plant system being implemented at the KOR. The next stage of digitalization will be the unification of allied technological installations into complexes with a single control center. It will allow to make operative decisions taking into account technical parameters of processes and economic indicators of manufacture, and also to raise accuracy of planning.

Implementation of the hydrocracking complex construction project at the LLC RN-Komsomolsky Oil Refinery is important for the supply of oil products to the Far Eastern Federal District.  Its launch will allow increasing the depth of oil refining up to 92%, and will also provide the domestic market with an additional volume of motor fuels of the highest ecological class. For the region, it means creating new jobs, expanding the tax base and developing the  infrastructure.
